PASSION FOR THE WORD

1 Peter 2:2, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” Psalms 63:1, “A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” Psalms 119:15, “I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.” Jeremiah 29:13, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
Anchor Verse 2 Kings 22:8, “And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.”
Josiah began to reign at a tender age of eight. When he became eighteen, he sent to Hilkiah the high priest to coordinate the repair of the house of the Lord 2 Kings 22:4-5, “4Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people: 5And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,”
In 2 kings 22:8, Hilkiah the high priest found the book of the law during the repair of the house of the Lord. This narrative showed that the high priest had been operating without the book of the law which contained detail precepts about his office and duties.
Little wonder the Passover which was of immerse spiritual importance to the children of Israel was no more celebrated 2 kings 23:21-22, “21And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant. 22Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;”
Whenever there is no more passion for the word of God, core or vital spiritual essence will be lost.
