1Timothy 6:3-5, “3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.”

  1. Teaching or doctrine that is not balance with or in word of God for instance, teaching on giving alone without emphasis on how to receive is one sided concentrating on prosperity without corresponding teaching on righteousness is not wholesome enough.
  2. Any teaching that is done to please or make men feel good and comfortable in sin is falsehood, speak unto us smooth things Galatians 1:10, “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Isaiah 30:10, “Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:”
  3. False teachings are driven by head knowledge and deceit of men, using human reasoning alone to preach and teach the word of God. Messages that has no root in the Bible. Jeremiah 14:14, “Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”
  4. False teachings pass over the law and the gospel for other things. 1 Timothy 1:5-7, “5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.” Teaching that easily pass over the great and weighty things both of law and gospel and stand most upon those things that are of the least moment and concerning the soul of men Matthew 23:2-3, “2Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: 3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.”
  5. False teach are teachings that are full of words but lacks power or tangible substances.

False teachers cover and colour their dangerous principles and soul- imposture with very fair speeches and plausible pretenses with high notions and golden expressions, using the enticing word of man’s wisdom Matthew 24:24, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” 1 Corinthians 2:4, “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:”

CONCLUSION:

Jesus Christ cautioned several times that prior to His second coming, many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”

HOW TO CONFRONT FALSE MESSAGES AND FALSE PROPHETS TEXTUAL SOURCE:

MATTHEW 7:15-20, “15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
