You need to take charge of your thoughts Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” If we think small, if we think less, if we think deprived, so will we be. But if we think, I’ve got all that I can need in Christ Jesus, I will dominate, I will rule, I will have more than enough to give, so will we be.
So this season we want to see how to take charge of our thoughts because the battle field of the mind is a real battle. Can make us feel small when God is declared as great, and minds can keep us locked up in places or in our past or in experiences that we should have let go of.
What are my thoughts? Usually it’s using your mind to consider something. So what am I thinking about or some of my mind? Those are your thoughts. How do I now ensure that my mind only thinks about the things that God would have me think about? To be honest with you, it’s a battle, especially I believe for women. You know, there’s just that battle of our thought processes. Sometimes on people are referred to as over thinkers, because they are not consciously taking charge of the thoughts. Today one thing I want you to take note of is it’s a conscious effort to take charge of your thoughts. So how do I do that? The Bible should be what should be in your mind and on your mind. So things come to our thoughts by our senses, whether the things we see, and feel hear.
Not all conversations you should involve in. You should not involve in things that will make me think about things that I shouldn’t be thinking about. You should not involve in things that will distort your thought process because your thoughts are your life. Your thoughts determine who you are and what you will become in your lifetime.
So how do I take charge of my thoughts? Meditate on the word of God. Joshua 1:8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
Your thought must be controlled by the Holy Spirit and this will be done through the God’s words
Think about right things Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” You conquer your thoughts with a word from scripture.
Bring negative thoughts into captivity 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, “4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” Because we are still in this human flesh, many thoughts will definitely be coming into our minds. But you must not give it the time dwell in your heart, you must not allow those thoughts to stay. The Scripture says as a man thinks it is.” Your thinking determines your life.
You can control your thoughts also by your faith and trusting in God. Proverbs 3:5-6, “5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Put your trust in God’s capacity, and His ability, and your mind will be in peace. Ephesians 4:16, “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” Hebrew 11:6, “(11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” You need to consciously bring your thought subject them to your belief and faith in Christ. Remember, it’s a battle, and you have won already.
Set your mind on things that above.
You must love God and put your mind in Him Luke 15:17, “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!”
